The World of Tomorrow

I watched this fascinating video today, which I was led to here, and it really rekindled my high school obsession with the old World’s Fairs. I can look at pictures of them all day long. The Trylon and Perisphere, pictured above, were always what amazed me the most. On a related note, I checked out Brian Fies’ graphic novel Whatever Happened to the World of Tomorrow? recently, and it’s quite something. I’d recommend giving it a look.

  1. My grandfather went to the World’s Fare, and he still has the button from the Futurama exhibit that says, “I have seen the future”!

  2. Wow. That’s pretty awesome.

  3. I heard recently that there is some great diving in Lake Michigan right off of the Chicago shoreline from the World’s Fair that was held there. I guess they just dumped a lot of stuff right into the lake after it was over. And in freshwater, there would not be so much decay. Awesome photo in this post!

  4. Whoa…that sounds incredible.
