phantom leap

Super Mario Bros.

I watched the movie this week for the first time in my life, and it blew my mind. Incredible.

  1. I saw at least part of it as a kid, but the only thing I really remember is being incensed that Bowser was now just a human with genetic corn rows.

By the way, there’s another Hum reunion coming up at the end of May in Chicago. Those guys need to just get their act together and put together a world reunion tour that goes through both western Kansas and Korea. All the cool bands are doing it.

  2. Dude! I just did my quarterly check for Hum news a week or two ago, and I heard nothing of it. Crazy! I guess this news is more recent.

  3. The movie IS incredible. I love it.

  4. It was posted on February 4, haha. I just happened to check it a day later.

It’s an abomination all things good. When watching it I can actually hear movie studio execs making stupid justifications as to why it sucks. Eg. about why Goombas looked the way they did:
“Hey, we can’t make tiny people with large heads, so lets make large people with tiny heads! No one will care.”

  6. I was invited in ’93 by Club Nintendo (The Nintendo Power of South America) to the premiere in Argentina. I was so excited at the time that my judgment was clouded by the whole nature of the mega event.
I remember even telling my friends to go see it… They all turned into Sega fans that year.

  7. Hah. Awesome story.

  8. DAGO that was very inspiring.

I just saw the movie myself.

I’m blown away by how off it is with the games but still incredible.

  9. Weird would be a better word to describe it. I saw it way back when it was released and, well, it was ok back then. Nowadays I see it and can’t understand why they made the movie the way it is since it only has a passing resemblance to the world of the Super Mario Bros. franchise.
